Program Description

The Writing Minor exposes students to cross-disciplinary writing opportunities. Students will develop the skills necessary for writing in all realms: civic life, employment, graduate school, and beyond. They will increase their creativity and innovation in all writing undertakings. Students will gain experience in collaboration, problem solving, innovation, and new media literacy. This minor/concentration permits students to document formally their acquisition of these rhetorical skills

Produce writing that correctly identifies an appropriate audience and uses rhetorical tools to correctly address the target audience.

Produce writing in an appropriate genre and employ or negotiate appropriate genre conventions for an identified audience and context.

Engage in multiple stages of revision, both globally and locally, in a way that demonstrates audience awareness and knowledge of genre conventions, and a developing writing style.
