Academic Grievance

A student who has a complaint related to academics may submit a grievance. Also refer to any applicable student handbook and its guidelines specific to that area or department’s procedure.

Steps

  • To begin the grievance process, discuss your desired resolution with the person in question.

  • When a mutually agreeable solution is not reached, a written appeal with the desired outcome must be provided by the student to the next-level supervisor. The student can repeat this process if a mutually agreeable solution still has not been reached and ultimately ends with the Provost. The Provost will review the material, arrange additional discussion as necessary, and provide a response.

  • When the original grievance is against the Provost, the grievance will be reviewed by the President.
