Description

This course surveys the organization of political power, political culture and the dynamics of political change in Europe. It gives students a comparative perspective on key European countries and provides them with the theoretical and methodological tools to understand domestic politics of European states and intra-European affairs as part of a European system of governance. In particular, it focuses on important institutions within European states that form the link between the state and society, specifically political parties and interest groups. The course also addresses the phenomenon of the European Union and its role in contemporary Europe. The seminar promotes and understanding of Europe within global politics.
