The Tactical Performance and Resilience Certificate prepares graduates to design programming that will optimize the physical and mental performance of Tactical Athletes (i.e. law enforcement, military, and rescue professions) who require unique occupational training strategies.

Emphasis will be placed on evidence-based development and safe implementation of tactical strength and conditioning programs and health behavior strategies to help tactical athletes accomplish their physical and mental performance goals within the TSAC-F scope of practice. Applied experience in the form of self-directed service-learning will enhance asynchronous course content understanding through real-world application of required skills.

  • Testing, Assessment, and Evaluation

Outcome

Identify the (a) interdisciplinary nature of the study of tactical athlete health and performance, (b) professional ethical issues and concerns within the field, and (c) diversity of issues on such topics as differences among job task requirements and risks, gender, and lifespan development.

Describe major coaching theories in the areas of motivation, attention, exercise adherence, athletic injury, and training group dynamics.

Evaluate tactical athletes’ (i.e. law enforcement, military, and rescue professions) unique health needs, occupational training strategies, and available programming, education, and services.

Design cardiovascular and resistance testing training programs for tactical athletes.

Instruct a variety of cardiovascular and resistance training exercise techniques specific to the needs of tactical athletes.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Proof of English language proficiency if applicable.
