Topics in Latina/o Culture

Description

This course explores topics of historical or contemporary interest specific to Latinas/os in the United States through the examination of Latina/o culture from the 19th through the 21st centuries. Students will garner a better understanding of Latina/o identity, explore cultural themes and historical issues that have shaped the United States-based Latina/o community, and examine how culture reflects everyday life. Students will examine a representative selection of works from a time periods selected by the instructor. Courses numbered SP367 Topics in Latina/o Culture may be repeated for credit up to four times, when offered as different topics. 3 lecture hours. Taught in Spanish. Prerequisite: SP301 or NU Placement Test score of 535 or higher.
