This course explores topics of historical or contemporary interest specific to Latin America. Students will read, analyze and discuss materials from pre-Columbian to the 21st century to garner a better understanding of Latin American identity and to explore cultural themes and historical issues that have shaped Latin America. Courses numbered SP 365EN Topics in Latin America may be repeated for credit up to four times when offered as different topics. 3 Lecture hours. Taught in English. Prerequisite: EN 111.
