Description

This course explores topics of socio-historical or contemporary interest specific to Latin America through the examination of Latin American culture from pre-Columbian times to the 21st century. Students will garner a better understanding of Latin American identity, explore cultural themes and historical issues that have shaped Latin America, and examine how culture reflects everyday life. Students will examine a representative selection of works from a time periods selected by the instructor. Courses numbered SP364 Topics in Latin American Culture may be repeated for credit up to four times, when offered as different topics. 3 lecture hours. Taught in Spanish. Prerequisite: SP301 or NU Placement Test score of 535 or higher.
