Students explore religions' contributions to racial and ethnic diversity and quests for justice in the United States. Topics could include, but are not limited to, religions such as Black Christianity, Black Islam, Latinx Christianity, Native American traditions, Judaism in rural America, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism and/or Confucianism. Focus is on the role religion plays in identity formation, navigation of racial and ethnic conflict, moral conversations about reponses to structural oppression and a variety of serches for justice. 3 Lecture hours.
