Description

This course introduces the foundations of information assurance, with focus on concepts and terminology used in describing, analyzing, and implementing information security. Topics include the history and mission of information assurance, history of computer crime, modern and historical cryptology, information warfare, penetrating computer systems and networks, malware, social engineering, spam, phishing, physical and facilities security, network security, identification and authentication, securing stored data, data backups and archives, patch management, and protecting digital rights. 3 Lecture hours. Cross-listed with GI 510. Credit cannot be earned in for both IA 340 and GI 510. Prerequisite: CS 100 or CYBR 225 or CYBR 220 or credit by exam waiver. Grade of C or higher. Restriction: Freshman 2 or higher. Offered: Fall
