Biology for Sustainable Future
Description
Students will learn how biological systems are being harnessed to prevent the depletion of natural resources while maintaining a high quality of life for future generations. The course is organized into interdisciplinary units focused on the need to develop sustainable sources of food, shelter, water and energy. Students will learn the fundamental principles of ecology, genetics, botany and microbiology. This course is appropriate for science and non-science majors. The laboratory includes a service-learning component. 3 Lecture hours. 2 Lab hours. Offered: Spring odd years.
